About Us
We started developing downstorm several years ago, and used Torrent Flux (TF) as a base. It wasn't long before the limitations of TF became apparent and we decided to develop a solution from scratch.
Although TF is a great solution, and about 98% of Torrent download services we've researched have TF as a base, its not a true commercial product. I would personally define it more as a private download system for a group of users.
In developing DownStorm, we pushed past the boundaries of TF's capabilities within a few days and built up our first core capable of multi server deployment.
Over the years, the one thing holding back the commercial deployment of DownStorm has been the high cost of bandwidth here in South Africa. And that has finally changed !!
Once the 'affordable' uncapped ADSL accounts announcements were made, we scrambled to get our last beta testing done for a commercial launch and take advantage of the cheaper bandwidth accounts available.
Over the course of our testing, we've processed about 7TB of torrents and with our comercial deployment, within the first month pushed about 8TB
DownStorms future is ever evolving as we strive to improve out product offering as much as possible !!
